350.org is an international environmental organization addressing the climate crisis. Its goal is to end the use of fossil fuels and transition to renewable energy. 350.org was founded in 2008 by Middlebury College professor and journalist Bill McKibben. Its name comes from McKibben’s view that the world will not be safe from global warming unless the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere falls to 350 parts per million or below from the present total of 418 ppm.
